Dr. George Kritikakis is a Mineral Resources Engineer (Technical University of Crete) holding an MSc (2001) and a PhD (2010) in Applied Geophysics. He has been affiliated with the Laboratory of Applied Geophysics at the Technical University of Crete since 2000, initially serving as scientific associate and administrative staff, and since 2014 as Laboratory Teaching Staff.

His teaching activities include the supervision of tutorial and laboratory courses in Applied Geophysics and petroleum borehole logging. He has participated as a member of examination committees in more than 20 diploma theses and has contributed to the supervision of at least 40 undergraduate diploma projects.

His research focuses on the development and application of non-destructive geophysical methods for imaging shallow subsurface and underwater structures, with particular emphasis on geotechnical and environmental applications, as well as onshore and offshore cultural heritage investigations. He has developed processing algorithms for the estimation of shear-wave velocity from surface-wave recordings and for two-dimensional seismic wave propagation modeling.

He has participated in more than 50 research projects and geophysical surveys related to the investigation of geotechnical and environmental problems, monuments, historical foundations and coastal/underwater archaeological sites in Greece and abroad. He has an extensive publication record with significant scientific impact, authoring more than 60 publications in international peer-reviewed journals, book chapters and conference proceedings. He has also served as a member of the organizing committee of two international conferences held in Greece.
